On March 2, the US Steel Association (AISI) issued a news report that US steel imports were 24.22 million tons in January, with approximately 23% compared with the same period in 2020.In January, the total imports of US finished steel imports were 12.39 million tons, down 24.8% compared with the same period of 2020, down 7.5% from December 2020.For the steel ingot, the billet and slab imports have increased maximum, which is nearly 142% higher than 2020.Heavy-duty structural wires also show a significant growth trend, and its imports increased by 29.4% in the same period of 2020.The inlet of the medium plate increased by 23.6% year-on-year.In addition, AISI reports show that the import volume of American horse-tintened iron in January fell by 58.3% year-on-year; the import volume of pipeline tube and cold rolled sheets also decreased significantly, and fell by 37.8% and 34.1%, respectively.AISI is expected that the total amount of steel imports in 2021 will be 22019 million tons, and the total import volume of finished steel will be 16.139 million tons.
